CIV-Race 2 Imola

Team Leopard Junior Italia grabs a top-5 result in Italian ELF CIV Moto3 in Imola

Leopard Junior Italia Team is back among the protagonists of Italian ELF CIV Moto3 Championship. The historic Autodromo Internazionale "Enzo e Dino Ferrari" circuit, located in Imola, hosted the third round of 2019 season and Joel Kelso scored a positive result, as he finished 6th overall and 5th in Moto3 in Race 2.

This achievement proves once again the talent and potential of the young Australian. Thanks to the good job done with the team, Joel steadily improved his performance during the whole race weekend. In a few weeks, he will have a new, important opportunity in Misano, the same location where he scored the pole position at the first round of 2019 season, back in March.

For what concerns Matteo Ripamonti, the Italian experienced hard times in Imola. After missing Race 1 due to the crash suffered in QP2, Matteo finished Race 2 in 18th place overall and 17th in Moto3.

For Leopard Junior Italia Team, the next round of the season in ELF CIV will take place at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, on 27th and 28th July.

Joel Kelso (Team Leopard Junior Italia - #66 Honda NSF250RW)

"For us, this weekend represents an important turning point in this season and a boost of confidence for the future. Now I feel good on my bike again and this wouldn't be possible without the great work done by the team. We're happy with the progress made and I'm sure that we'll return fighting for amazing results. On my side, I'm looking forward to racing in Misano and spending the next few days at the Leopard Training Camp. For sure, this experience will be useful to improve my physical condition ahead of the next races, as I'll be training with some well-known professionals in this sector."

Matteo Ripamonti (Team Leopard Junior Italia - #5 Honda NSF250RW)

"It was a tough weekend. Unfortunately, I couldn't take part in Race 1 and I wasn't able to score a good result today. I'll keep working with the team to be stronger in Misano."

Alessandro Tonucci (Team Leopard Junior Italia - Team Manager)

"We're very pleased with the performance provided by Joel. This weekend was very important for him: he faced the race weekend in the best way, with a different attitude and a better preparation. The decisions taken in the last period have been fruitful and the fact he raced with nearly no pressure definitely confirms it. We're extremely happy with this. Moreover, his participation in the Leopard Training Camp will be crucial for his professional growth and for the next rounds of the season. With all these good things, we expect to have him back in the first part of the standings in Misano. About Matteo, it was a hard weekend for him. He could take part in Race 2, after he had been declared 'unfit' for Race 1, but his laptimes were far from being consistent and much less competitive than those set by the front group. We hope to re-find the right direction in Misano."
