Another signing for Leopard Pro Cycling: Edvin Lovidius

After announcing four signings in the final days of 2020, Leopard Pro Cycling felt the need to add another body to the 2021 selection.

As communicated on Leopard's social media channels, new signing Mats Wenzel had to undergo surgery following a nasty crash during training. This unfortunate event paved the way for Edvin Lovidius to join Leopard Pro Cycling earlier than planned. The 18-year-old from Swedish junior joins from the Belgian Isorex Cycling Team.

Lovidius is an attacking rider who likes hard races with short climbs. He is also not slow when approaching the finish line in a small group. He already gathered some impessive results, especially last year when he finished sixth in the Junior European Road Race Championships and first and second in respectively the road race and the time trial of the Junior Swedish National Championships. Besides, Lovidius showed himself with top results in national and junior races in for example Amundsloppet, Kinnekulle, Sint-Maria-Lierde (2020), Kooigem, Zottegem-Strijpen, Arendonk and the LVM Saarland Trofeo (2019).

Edvin Lovidius

"I am excited to be able to join Leopard at the start of this season. I am sure that it is a great team that will help me develop as a rider. My goal for the upcoming season is therefore to gain experience and help the team getting the best possible results, maybe even some satisfying results for myself too. The roster for this season looks strong and we can go into the season with confidence."

Markus Zingen, Team Manager

"Edvin would normally join us later this season, but since we lost Mats Wenzel for some time, we wanted to take no risks and start our cooperation already at the start of the season. Being part of a Belgian team, Edvin has proven himself in hard and classic type races, but we should not forget that Edvin is only 18 years old, so we will give him the time to learn and adapt to the UCI Continental level."
