Difficult race in Austria for the Le0pard Racing
Le0pard riders Dennis Foggia and Jaume Masia have finished the 11th and the 14th respectively at the Grand Prix of Styria.
Today hasn’t been the day the team expected as both riders had felt good during the weekend and had solid pace to fight for podium positions, but Moto3 is an unpredictable category in which anything can really happen in a blink of an eye. Sometimes we shine and sometimes we don’t, but it is important to take out the bright side: despite being a difficult race, Jaume and Dennis have managed to gather points, as every single one is important on the Championship.
We had experience in this track, very good records in the past and overall the weekend allowed us to think that we could do it again. Dennis Foggia started from the 7th position, but unfortunately couldn't do the perfect start, so he had to recover some positions and that played an important role on the rest of his race. On Masia’s side, the Spaniard started from the 18th spot of the grid and had a few moments with other riders just at the beginning. When a rider has to start from the last part of the grid, there always more contact chances and that happened to Masia today. Due to those moments, Jaume saw himself the last and had to do a huge comeback to score some points. He managed to get to the group after a few laps and as the time went by, he and teammate Dennis did their best to get the maximum of the situation, always fighting for points positions. At the end, the Italian crossed the line the 11th and the Spanish the 14th.
Right now and after 6 races, Jaume Masia is the 9th on the standings (41 points), Dennis the 10th (37) and the team occupies the 5th position on team’s classification. There are still 9-10 races to go and we will try again in three weeks time in Misano!
Dennis Foggia, 11th
“It’s been a very difficult race, I didn’t feel good. I’ve lost a lot on the braking points, now we need to keep working and we will try again in Misano”.
Jaume Masia, 14th
“Starting from the back has been a shame, there have been a few contacts on the first laps and I was the last of the grid. Then I’ve struggled when trying to do a comeback and I finally I haven’t been able to do better than 14th because without any slipstream the race has been so difficult. Let’s try it again in Misano!”
