Kevin Inkelaar completes Leopard Pro Cycling’s 2022 team

The 24-year-old Dutchman joins from Team Bahrain Victorious and is the fifth and final signing.

An amazing piece of business, is how Leopard Pro Cycling would like to describe the signing of Kevin Inkelaar. In all honesty, the team had already an agreement with Hungarian Barnabás Peák from Team BikeExchange, but he was able to get himself a new WorldTour-contract at Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert Matériaux during our recent team building camp. Shortly after this deal fell through, a new opportunity arose for Leopard as Kevin Inkelaar became available.

Leopard has met Kevin Inkelaar on several occasions in the U23 ranks, when the Dutchman rode for Lotto soudal U23, Polartec-Kometa and the Continental Groupama-FDJ side. In this period, Inkelaar showed great potential in difficult races with a lot of climbing. With two stage wins and two top three GC finishes in the highly-rated Giro della Valle d’Aosta and the fourth overall position at the Tour Alsace, one is quickly able to acknowledge his climbing abilities. Inkelaar has also already one grand tour – the Vuelta – under his belt.

For 2022, the goal is clear: get back to winning ways and prove that his potential is still there. Leopard Pro Cycling will do its all in supporting him to reach his goals.

Kevin Inkelaar

"I am very happy to join the Leopard Pro Cycling team for 2022. I am convinced that this team with its professional structure is the perfect place for me to work towards my big goal: returning back to the highest level of my sport. For next season, the key is to bounce back and find my old self again. Then results like the past will follow. I know for sure that the step back to the WorldTour-level is a realistic one when I have a good season in the Leopard colors. The team has proven to be a good stepping stone many times in last few years."

Markus Zingen, Team Manager

"After the Barnabás Peák deal fell through, we were happy to be able to sign Kevin Inkelaar. We have seen his amazing performances in the toughest races on the Continental level and we are convinced that he has still the fire in him to deliver amazing results after two somewhat disappointing years. We will try our best to offer Kevin what it needs to perform well and hopefully we can bring again a rider to the WorldTour-level after an amazing 2022 season."
