Leopard ready to battle at the Czech Cycling Tour

No time to look back to the Polish Dookoła Mazowsza and Puchar MON races, because the next ones are already presenting themselves. From Thursday to Sunday, Leopard Pro Cycling will race at the Czech Cycling Tour, where the opposition can’t be underestimated.

The Race
The race organization must be very happy with the field that lines up for the Czech Cycling Tour (UCI 2.1). Next to Leopard, 21 other strong teams will be present at the start line, amongst which are some of the world’s best World Tour teams. The race consists of four stages, taking the peloton on a total of 590 kilometers long journey through Czech Republic. The race is opened by a Team Time Trial of 18.1 kilometers in Uničov, before heading into the second stage that has some altitude meters in the middle part, but a rather flat approach to the finish line. The two final stages in the weekend are very much alike with tough climbs and some difficult local laps to round the stages off.

Stages
06.08 | Uničov - Uničov TTT | 18.1 km
07.08 | Prostějov - Uničov | 193.7 km
08.08 | Olomouc - Frýdek-Místek | 206.1 km
09.08 | Mohelnice - Šternberk | 172.6 km

Previous years
It is the fourth time that Leopard Pro Cycling is present at this race. In 2013, the Dane Kristian Haugaard finished second and last year, Jan Maas (13th) and Szymon Rekita (14th) finished in a satisfying position in the general classification. In recent years, the race has been won by riders like Daryl Impey, Riccardo Zoidl and Josef Černý.

Who is riding?
Patrick Haller (GER), Arthur Kluckers (LUX), Jan Maas (NED), Filip Maciejuk (POL), Szymon Rekita (POL), Mattias Skjelmose Jensen (DEN) & Mauro Schmid (SUI) - DS: Jan Brockhoff (GER) & Gregor Willwohl (GER)

Mauro Schmid

"I am looking forward to the Czech Cycling Tour. We go there with a strong team and I am convinced that we don't need to hide from the bigger teams. Stages three and four look very exciting. I am very eager to have a good result there with the team and maybe launch into a top 10 position in the GC. It will be a challenge because of the hard mountain stages and also the team time trial on the first day, but I feel good and ready to race."
