Luxembourger Wenzel joins Leopard Pro Cycling
Leopard Pro Cycling has added yet another promising Luxembourgish rider to its team roster, as 18-year-old Mats Wenzel will make his debut in the U23 ranks.
Mats Wenzel is a young Luxembourger who turned 18 last week. The youngster is a good climber and time-trialist who has two solid junior seasons behind him. In 2019, a sixteen-year-old Wenzel showed already promising signs, for example by riding a strong Oberösterreich Juniorenrundfahrt and Grand Prix Rüebliland. In the same year, he was selected for the World Championships in Yorkshire, where Wenzel crossed the line in 42nd.
This season, Wenzel was able to confirm the potential by having many good results in races where he could show his climbing and time-trialing skills. His tenth position in the general classification of the GP Rüebliland is a great example of this, next to his three national junior titles in the time trial, cyclocross and cross-country.

"We already followed Mats for a while now, as he always showed great potential. In the short season he had this year, he showed a good improvement and therefore we wanted to add him to our 2021 team. Nevertheless, we are eager to see what Mats will be capable of in the new season."
