Grand Prix of the United Kingdom: Friday

The first day of action of the British Grand Prix comes to an end with David Almansa in 2nd position, while Joel Esteban, replacing Adrián Fernández this weekend, finished 20th:

  • Sunny skies welcomed us for Free Practice 1 today at Silverstone.
  • David Almansa started the day with a good feeling, finishing the session in 2nd place, progressively improving to set a 2’10.714 on his last to second lap. Joel Esteban, riding the Honda for the first time, finished 15th this morning with a time of 2’12.333.
  • Securing a seat in Q2, David Almansa continued to work on his pace and feeling during the afternoon, sitting 2nd in Practice with a time of 2’09.344. Joel Esteban, for his part, will have to go through Q1 as he finished Practice in 20th place with a time of 2’10.923.
  • Due to slow riding during this morning’s Free Practice 1, David Almansa will have to serve a Long Lap Penalty on Sunday’s race.
  • See you tomorrow for qualifying day!
“I’m very happy with the work we did today. The feeling with the bike has been very good since this morning, and it even improved in the afternoon. I really like this track. Despite the penalty we got today, which was totally unintentional as I didn’t see the riders behind me, we’ll keep our concentration, working in this direction, because we have the feeling and the pace to put in a good weekend here!”

“New bike, new colours! First of all, I want to thank the team for thinking in me and giving me this opportunity. I am very happy with our first day here at Silverstone. I have been working to adapt my riding style to the Honda and, honestly, it has been easier than I thought. We already know the things we need to improve for tomorrow’s qualifying, with the aim of getting into Q2”
