Grand Prix of Aragon: Sunday

Le0pard Racing completes the Aragon Grand Prix with David Almansa crossing the finish line in 4th position:

  • Starting from 7th on the grid on the third row, David Almansa had a good start to the race today, recovering a couple of places to sit 5th on the first lap. The Spaniard soon overtook for 4th, moving up to 3rd with a fast pace.
  • With 11 laps to go, after being overtaken to 4th, David Almansa dropped to 6th, but recovered quickly, making it back into the podium places 8 laps to go, moving into 2nd position two laps later. The battle continued within a busy leading group as David Almansa took the lead of the race with 5 laps to go.
  • Overtaken again to 4th place later on, David Almansa fought tooth and nail to sit back in 3rd on the penultimate lap, but ended up crossing the finish line in 4th place today.
  • We are already looking forward to the next one at Mugello in two weeks time!
“Today’s race was one that required great tyre management. We started well, staying focused until the chequered flag, being aware of our strong and weak points. It was on the last lap that things got complicated, losing any chance of a podium today. I tried my best to catch the rider in front in the last sector, getting very close, but not being able to make the overtake at the end. We continue to take steps forward, which is of course very positive, but I can’t say I’m happy today, because we had everything in place to achieve a better result. We will keep working in this direction!”
