Grand Prix of Italy: Sunday

A difficult Sunday brings the Italian Grand Prix to a close for Le0pard Racing, with both David Almansa and Adrián Fernández crashing out of the race:

  • On a good start to the race, David Almansa went from 9th to 5th. Adrián Fernández, on the other hand, dropped some places starting from 12th, but soon recovered to 11th.
  • Strongly overtaking, David Almansa moved into 3rd position, pushing to take the lead of the race at the beginning of Lap 2. Adrián Fernández kept pushing, already placed 9th by then.
  • The fight continued within a very tight group, with David Almansa losing the lead to sit in 3rd place. It was moments after when the Spaniard crashed at Turn 1 due to a clash, not being able to rejoin the race.
  • Adrián Fernández started to struggle as he dropped to 14th, but quickly recovered, pushing up to 7th with 10 laps to go. With a great overtake, he made it into 4th position, reaching the podium places. It was when the Spaniard was in 3rd place that he also crashed at Turn 1 due to a contact from another rider.
  • Fortunately, both David Almansa and Adrián Fernández are fine after their crashes, which is the most important thing.
  • See you next week at Assen.
“Honestly, today I just wanted to finish the race for my team, in respect to the huge work they always do. We have suffered a lot over the last two races, and today I wanted to do it for them, but a contact from another rider left us out of contention. Our eyes are already on Assen”

“I am very frustrated today. After a good weekend overall, we were aiming for a good race here at Mugello, but in the end it wasn’t to be. It’s a pity because the feeling with the bike was great, and we wanted to fight, but we could only do two full laps”
