Grand Prix of Brazil: Sunday

Le0pard Racing completes the Brazilian Grand Prix with Guido Pini crossing the finish line in 5th place and Adrián Fernández in 8th:

  • From 12th and 16th on the grid, Adrián Fernández and Guido Pini got off to a good start in today’s race at Goiânia. The Spaniard was 10th on the first lap, pushing to already sit in 5th place nine laps into the race. The Italian moved up to 12th, having climbed to 8th place by then.
  • Right before the race was red-flagged, Adrián Fernández had made the move into the podium places, sitting in 2nd, whilst Guido Pini had moved up to 6th place.
  • The race restarted after the red flag for 5 laps, with Adrián Fernández 2nd on the grid and Guido in 6th, based on Lap 14. It was a tight fight from the start, with Adrián Fernández sitting in 3rd on the first lap, ahead of teammate Guido Pini in 4th. Adrián Fernández eventually dropped to 7th, crossing the finish line in 8th place in the end, while Guido Pini pushed to finish today’s race in 5th position.
  • See you next week in Austin!
“After what happened on Sunday in Thailand, we really needed to finish today’s race. So I’m quite happy, because not only did we accomplish that, but we finished in a good position, after making some great overtakes and gaining a lot of confidence with the bike. In the tricky corners, where others couldn’t overtake, we were strong and, bit by bit, I was able to move up positions. We could have achieved an even better result without the red flag, because we were managing the tyres well. Anyway, today we were able to finish in 5th place, having found the right line from which to continue improving. Austin is a very different track to this one, so we’ll see how the base we’ve built works there. I’m really looking forward to it!”

“It was a strange race, but we’re focusing on the positives of it, which are many. At the start of the race, the feeling was really good, allowing us to push hard to move into the top positions. Later, after the red flag, we returned to the race lacking some determination, something we’ll have to work on and improve. As I said, we’ll take the positives from today’s race, as we also learn from our mistakes, so we can keep improving heading into Austin next week”
