Le0pard Racing completes the Indonesian Grand Prix with Adrián Fernández in 7th position, ahead of Guido Pini in 8th:
- Starting from 4th and 5th on the grid, Adrián Fernández and Guido Pini both got off to a good start. The Spaniard quickly moved up to 3rd on the opening lap, while the Italian settled into 7th.
- Making a strong move, Adrián Fernández took the lead on Lap 2, but soon found himself in the middle of a busy group, fighting to hold onto 2nd place. Guido Pini had already climbed one position. A couple of laps later, Adrián was 3rd, just ahead of his teammate, who completed a double overtake to move up to 4th.
- Setting a fast pace, Adrián Fernández held onto 3rd place until Lap 11, when a heavy contact damaged the tail section of his bike. The Spaniard managed to avoid a crash, but fell back to 8th. Despite this, he was able to finish today’s race in 7th position.
- Guido Pini had also lost ground by Lap 11, dropping to 9th. The Italian fought his way back up to 6th in the closing stages, but crossed the finish line in 7th, being later relegated to 8th due to exceeding track limits at Turn 9 on the final lap.
- We’ll try again in Australia in two weeks’ time!
“We were having a good race, and I was quite happy with how the bike was feeling. Quiles was in a race of his own, but I think we could have stayed with the leading group until the end. Then, another rider hit me from behind, damaging the tail section of my bike, and I couldn’t ride as comfortably anymore. I was feeling a lot of vibrations at the front, which made it difficult to turn and brake properly. The important thing is that I managed to finish the race, but I feel sorry for the team because I think today was a good opportunity to get back on the podium. We won’t stop trying!”
“It was a very long race! You could really feel those 20 laps, especially in the heat. I had a very good start today and stayed with the front group for the first part of the race. Later, a gap opened up and I couldn’t push any further, but we can still be happy because we were in the fight for the Top 5. It’s a shame I went onto the green on the last lap, but I lost the front at Turn 8 and couldn’t do anything to avoid going onto it. This has been one of our best weekends of the year. We’ve been competitive throughout, and now we have to keep going like this. Phillip Island, Malaysia and Qatar are tracks that we really like, so hopefully we can keep this momentum going and end the season on a high note.”
