Le0pard rider Jaume Masià will start from the first spot on the grid tomorrow as he has claimed a stunning pole position in Austin. Teammate Tatsuki Suzuki will start from 10th on the grid, but we’ll be more than ready to fight back these places. Let’s now analyse what’s been a great Saturday at the Circuit of The Americas for Le0pard Racing:
- After yesterday’s weather conditions on track, we already expected this morning to be nothing but similar. Not far from our thoughts, overnight rain made Practice 3 a tricky one, with a patchy track and mixed conditions.
- As it was impossible to improve the lap times during the morning session, the combined standings remained as they were yesterday, with Jaume Masià in 2nd position and Tatsuki Suzuki in 8th, both going straight into Q2.
- The sun came out and the conditions on track got better by the time qualifying started.
- Right at the start of Q2, Jaume Masià set his best time of the day, storming the timesheets with a 2’16.250. No one was able to beat it for the remainder of the session and Jaume Masià took pole position.
- The Spaniard has claimed his first pole position of the season and also his first one in two years.
- Things were different on the other side of the box, with Tatsuki Suzuki struggling a bit more to set a faster time. The Japanese rider will start tomorrow’s rodeo from the 10th position on the grid after setting a time of 2’17.407. With the strength he already showed in Argentina, we are confident that he’ll fight back tomorrow.
- The team is really happy with the work done so far this weekend, but the most important day is tomorrow. We can’t wait to go racing again!
I’m adapting well to the bike, it’s something you can tell. I’m very happy with the work we have done, and I really want to thank the team for that. Tomorrow’s race is unpredictable, but what I expect is a group race. On this circuit it will be difficult to open the gap”
We didn’t get the best feeling today and we struggled to improve our lap time. The potencial is there, the motivation is there… We just need to be focused on tomorrow’s race and try to fight back to be battling at the front again”
