Adrián Fernández takes maiden Moto3 pole position at Sepang

Le0pard Racing will start tomorrow’s race at the Malaysian Grand Prix from the first spot with Adrián Fernández, who took a record-breaking first pole position today, while Ángel Piqueras will do so from 7th on the grid:

  • Saturday kicked off with partly cloudy skies and dry conditions at Sepang.
  • With a strong start to the day and improving from early in the session, both Le0pard riders secured their Q2 seats in Practice 2.
  • Adrián Fernández, despite a few drops of rain, set a new lap record as he lowered his time on a last flying lap, topping the combined with a 2’10.102 ahead of teammate Ángel Piqueras, 2nd with a time of 2’10.284.
  • The afternoon came with dry conditions for qualifying.
  • Adrián Fernández left it to a last flying lap to storm the timesheets with another all-time lap record, claiming his first-ever pole position in the lightweight class with a time of 2’09.542.
  • Ángel Piqueras, for his part, will start from the third row of the grid in 7th place with a time of 2’10.512. A crash towards the end of the session prevented him from improving further today.
  • The most important day of the weekend awaits!
“I’m very happy! We are working alone and we are being able to be competitive no matter the track. It’s true that last year I already felt great at Sepang, but now things are going more smoothly. We need to keep working in this direction and focus on tomorrow’s race. It will be a difficult one due to the heat and the tyre management”

“I was hoping for a better result today, as the feeling with the bike was very good. We were able to improve a lot compared to yesterday, and it’s a pity that I crashed, because I think I could have improved more in qualifying today. In any case, I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s race and I’m ready for it”
