Le0pard Racing completes the Japanese Grand Prix with Adrián Fernández stepping onto the podium again as he took 3rd today at Motegi while teammate Ángel Piqueras crashed five laps from the end of the race:
- Cloudy skies and dry conditions greeted us for race day at Motegi, with Le0pard Racing starting today’s race from the second and third rows of the grid, with Ángel Piqueras in the 4th spot and Adrián Fernández in the 7th.
- On a good start to the race, Ángel Piqueras stayed in 4th, while Adrián Fernández moved up from 7th to 5th. A few corners later, both Spaniards changed positions, with Adrián Fernández making the move into 3rd soon, doing a double overtake to take the lead of the race 16 laps to go. Ángel Piqueras, meanwhile, was back in 4th.
- The laps went by with both Le0pard riders maintaining their positions, with Adrián Fernández pushing to try to open up a gap and Ángel Piqueras approaching to overtake for 3rd, which he did 11 laps to go.
- Ángel Piqueras was overtaken again with 8 laps to go, dropping to 6th position, suffering a crash a few laps later at Turn 10, which prevented him from finishing today’s race.
- Adrián Fernández, for his part, pushed to stay in the lead until he was overtaken with 4 laps to go, returning the overtake, but crossing the finish line in 3rd position at the end to claim his second consecutive podium.
- See you in Australia in two weeks time!
