David Almansa takes maiden pole position at Montmeló

Le0pard Racing will start tomorrow’s race at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya from pole position with David Almansa and from the second row with Adrián Fernández in 6th:

  • Saturday got underway at Barcelona with Free Practice 2, which saw both Le0pard riders improve their lap times early on. Adrián Fernández finished in 2nd place with a time of 1’47.706, ahead of teammate David Almansa in 3rd with a 1’47.906.
  • A hectic Q2 was in store later in the day. While Adrián Fernández qualified in 6th place with the 1’47.235 he set on his first run, starting tomorrow from the second row of the grid, David Almansa left it late to his second to last lap. The Spaniard set the first 1’46 of the weekend then, securing his maiden pole position in the category with a time of 1’46.877.
  • We can’t wait to race at Montmeló!
“We’ve done a great job so far this weekend together with the team, and we’re all very happy! Yesterday we worked hard on the bike’s set-up, and this morning we focused on our pace and tyre management towards the race. The feeling both then and during Q2 was very good, and I was able to put in a good lap that gave me my first pole position. I’ll fight to keep it up tomorrow!”

“Today we took a step forward in terms of feeling compared to where we left off yesterday. Things were already going smoother this morning, but once again we lacked a better lap in qualifying. I think we could have done a little better today, but I consider it a positive day as tomorrow we will start from the second row of the grid in our home race”
