Grand Prix of Japan: Saturday

Le0pard Racing qualifies in 6th and 9th position at Motegi with Adrián Fernández and David Almansa respectively:

  • Saturday at Motegi got underway with Free Practice 2, a steady session for David Almansa, who set a 1’55.206 on his second run to sit 3rd this morning. Adrián Fernández, on the other hand, had some difficulties, finishing in 17th place with a time of 1’55.994, improving on his last lap.
  • A challenging Q2 was in store for both Le0pard riders later in the day. Adrián Fernández left it to his last flying lap to set the 1’55.220 with which he will start from 6th tomorrow. David Almansa did so too, clocking a time of 1’55.318 to qualify 9th.
  • A back-of-the-grid penalty has been given to David Almansa due to slow riding during today’s qualifying, which means he will start from 24th on the eighth row.
“Today has been a strange day. This morning, I had a hard time trying to understand our feeling, losing my focus a little bit. During qualifying, we lacked a good lap on the first run, but we managed to put it in on the second. We were able to regain our focus to start tomorrow from the second row of the grid”

“Honestly, it could have been a better day. I felt great this morning, but in the afternoon things got complicated with a very tight qualifying. We didn’t get the result we wanted today, especially with the penalty we were given. Anyway, we’ll give it our all tomorrow”
