Grand Prix of Qatar: Sunday

Another difficult Sunday comes to an end for Le0pard Racing as David Almansa crosses the finish line in 16th place after a crash, while Adrián Fernández retires from the race at the Lusail International Circuit:

  • Starting from 8th on the grid, David Almansa had a good start to the race, moving up to 6th. Adrián Fernández, for his part, started from 7th, sitting in 8th on the first lap. A clash afterwards made him drop to 10th.
  • By the time Adrián Fernández had completed the Long Lap Penalty he had to serve, sitting in 15th place, David Almansa, from 5th, had already recovered the gap to the leading group, overtaking for 4th position.
  • Overtaken to 5th, David Almansa pushed hard to catch the leading group again, but crashed when he had already done it with 9 laps to go. The Spaniard rejoined the race, crossing the finish line today in 16th position at the end.
  • Adrián Fernández, on the other hand, couldn’t finish today’s race, retiring with 9 laps to go due to a problem on the front end.
  • See you in Jerez in two weeks time.
“It has been another challenging weekend. A lot of things happened in today’s race, from a rider crashing in front of me to me crashing as well… I was trying to push not to lose the leading group again, and I went wide in the last corner. It’s a pity, because I felt strong and I know we could have achieved a good result today. We will keep pushing”

“Although we were able to fix a lot of things yesterday, having a good feeling with the bike again, some of the problems we had on Friday reappeared during the race, making it very difficult. This wasn’t what we expected from this weekend. We will focus on getting back to our best in Jerez”
