Grand Prix of Qatar: Sunday

The Qatar Grand Prix comes to an end as Ángel Piqueras finishes inside the points in 12th place and Adrián Fernández crashes on the last lap after fighting for the podium places throughout the whole race:

  • Le0pard Racing started today’s race at the Lusail International Circuit from the 4th and 12th spots of the grid, on the second and fourth rows, with Adrián Fernández and Ángel Piqueras respectively.
  • On a great start to the race, Adrián Fernández held on to 4th position, moving up to 3rd in the early stages of it.
  • Rookie Ángel Piqueras lost a few places in the race start, sitting in 16th position at the beginning. The Spaniard soon started to push to get into the points, reaching 13th.
  • Adrián Fernández remained in 3rd, but the battle for the podium places soon began. The Spaniard fought during the whole race within the leading group, taking 2nd when it was four laps to go.
  • The overtaking didn’t stop for a moment, and on the final lap, when Adrián Fernández was in 5th place trying to climb back to the podium places, the Spaniard crashed and couldn’t finish the race. Fortunately, he is feeling fine, which is the most important thing.
  • Ángel Piqueras, for his part, crossed the finish line in 12th place on his debut Moto3 race, scoring his first points.
  • It was not the start we hoped for, but this has only just begun. See you in two weeks time in Portimao.
“At the beginning of the race I was feeling very good, but as the laps went by I started to struggle a bit. We scored our first points, which is great, but we have to analyse everything in order to find improvements for the next race”

“It wasn’t the start we wanted, and I would like to apologise to the team. I felt good from the beginning of the race, and I knew that I could fight to get a podium finish today. One thing is for sure, I will try even harder in Portimao”
