Grand Prix of the United Kingdom: Sunday

Le0pard Racing completes the British Grand Prix as David Almansa crosses the finish line in 6th position while Joel Esteban retires on the last lap:

  • From 3rd on the grid, on the front row, David Almansa had a good start to today’s race, overtaking to take the lead after the first corners. Joel Esteban, for his part, went from 23rd on the grid to 20th on the first lap.
  • Completing the Long Lap Penalty he had to serve, David Almansa strongly started his way up from 12th, sitting 5th with 10 laps to go. Joel Esteban, in the meantime, had moved up to 18th.
  • David Almansa dropped positions and made them up constantly until it was 8 laps to go, when the Spaniard strongly overtook for 3rd, then for 2nd, and took the lead, keeping it until the final stages of the race.
  • With 4 laps to go, David Almansa was overtaken to 4th, starting to struggle within a busy group, dropping a couple of places to finish today’s race in 6th place. Joel Esteban, on the other hand, couldn’t finish today, retiring on the last lap when he was 21st.
  • See you in Aragón in two weeks time.
“We were doing a great race, everything was going as we had planned. I was able to come back easily after the Long Lap, and I took the lead of the race with ease. I was doing everything we had discussed with the team, from our position on the straight to how to deal with the wind, but with 3 laps to go, it became very difficult for me to control the race. We are always learning, and with the experience, step by step, things will work out. I’m already looking forward to the next race”

“It has not been an easy race. I had a difficult start, but I was able to overtake in the first corners. Then I also made some mistakes, but that’s part of the learning. Today I understood the bike better, lap by lap, and I’m very happy about that. I want to thank the team again for thinking of me for this opportunity. We always aim for a better result, but I’m grateful for this new experience”
