It’s been a superb Saturday as Jaume Masia has taken pole position at the Circuit of Le Mans smashing the previous record of the track! He will start tomorrow from the first position of the grid and teammate Dennis Foggia from the 11th. A very positive Saturday!
The circuit has welcomed us this morning with sun and hotter temperatures than yesterday. During the first session of the day our riders have tried to get the best feeling with those conditions in order to test their chances for the qualifying. Some traffic on track has prevented Dennis Foggia from taking a fastest lap time on the FP3 and therefore the Italian has had to go through Q1. Teammate Masia finished the 9th and went straight to Q2.
Dennis did an amazing job on Q1 and managed to be on Q2, both Leopard riders had to fight against rivals at the most important session of the day, needless to say that qualifying plays a big role every weekend. The strategy worked for both as they were able to be fast and set a good lap time by themselves, without slipstream. When it was crunch time, at the last five minutes of the session, Masia was able to be fast on every flying lap. Today no one could beat the #5, he crossed the line as the poleman setting a tremendous 1’41.399 and smashing the previous record. Right now on the statistics the “all time lap record” belongs to Spaniard Jaume Masia. If that wasn’t enough, Jaume and his Honda have been the fastest of the event so far after getting to 226.6km/h. On the other side of the box, despite doing a good job and giving his best, Dennis Foggia found some traffic on track and tomorrow will start from the 11th spot of the grid. First and fourth row, we can’t complain at all!
The gloves are off, tomorrow will be crucial!
