Adrián Fernández takes podium in third place at Buriram

The first race weekend of the season comes to an end as Adrián Fernández steps onto the podium in 3rd position, while David Almansa crosses the finish line in 7th:

  • Starting from 7th and 11th on the grid at the Chang International Circuit, under sunny skies and hot temperatures, both Le0pard riders had a challenging start to today’s race. Adrián Fernández dropped to 13th, while David Almansa did so to 17th.
  • During the early stages of the race, both Spaniards tried to push to recover positions, with Adrián Fernández catching up with the leading group in 6th when 14 laps to go. Four laps later, Adrián Fernández had already reached the podium places, while David Almansa, for his part, had already made up seven positions, sitting in 10th.
  • As the laps went by in a such a demanding race due to the heat, the battle continued. Fighting for a podium result until the very last corner, Adrián Fernández crossed the finish line in 3rd place. David Almansa continued to push, finishing his first race in Leopard colours in 7th place, his best result so far in the Moto3 World Championship.
  • We are already looking forward to Termas!
“This is a circuit in which I have always struggle. The last two seasons, it was very difficult for me to find the feeling in order to be fast. This time it has been different. Although we had some problems during the weekend, we have been able to be very competitive in the race, taking a podium-finish. I’m really happy. This is nothing but a proof of the team’s hard work over the winter”

“It has been one of the hardest races I’ve ever done. I had a few moments on the first lap, dropping to 17th position. Step by step, we’ve been able to climb up places, to stay focused on the race despite the heat. We need to analyse a few things ahead of Argentina, but I’m very, very happy to have finished this challenging race, also with my best result so far in the class”
