Cloudy Friday in Valencia for the Le0pard Racing

Le0pard riders Jaume Masia and Dennis Foggia have ended up 21st and 22nd respectively on the combined standings of Friday’s action at Valencia’s track.

The first of the last three rounds of the 2020 season have just begun at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit and it’s fair to say that weather will play a major role this weekend. Heavy and intense rain stormed Thursday’s asphalt and today the surface was dirty and wet. Adding some rain moments throughout the day, overall it’s been a tricky Friday. Fortunately, conditions haven’t been as risky as yesterday and we’ve been able to do our job.

It is important to always look at the bright side, so it’s interesting to point out that this is Jaume Masia’s home soil, he was born in Algemesi (very close to the circuit) and he knows this track probably better than anyone! After the last two victories in a row, the Spaniard is motivated to give his best this weekend. Already this morning at FP1 time, he set the fastest lap time! On his side, Dennis Foggia finished the 18th.

This afternoon, with a drier surface and trying to avoid mistakes (many, many riders have crashed today due to tarmac conditions) both riders have been testing their respective options. Masia hasn’t felt as good as this morning, and has finished the 21st (1’47.486). Italian Dennis Foggia has managed to revert his morning situation and although he’s crossed the line the 22nd (1’47.723), he’s got a solid pace and had it not been for a little mistake at the last turn, he would have finished among the first five.

It’s time to work a little, we will try to do our best as usual! Our bikes have been the first and second fastest of the event so far (219.6km/h, both), so this is just a matter of mixing all the ingredients!

The FP1 has been great, I’ve set the fastest lap time and I’ve been consistent. On the FP2 we’ve had some difficulties but the team has worked so good and have fixed them. At that point of the session we’ve just done a couple of laps and things haven’t gone the way we expected, but in any case we’ve worked a lot and I can’t wait to race here, this is home for me!” “It’s been a positive day, I feel quite good despite the final result. Unfortunately on my last flying attempt I’ve made a mistake at the last turn. If not, I was about to get the Top5 of the classification. Thanks to those final feelings I feel good and confident for tomorrow. Let’s hope for a dry day and let’s try to go straight to Q2”.
