Le0pard Racing will line up on the second and seventh rows of the grid tomorrow at the Lusail International Circuit, with Adrián Fernández and Guido Pini starting from 6th and 19th respectively:
- Free Practice 2 proved challenging for both Adrián Fernández and Guido Pini today. The Spaniard finished 14th with a time of 2’04.486, while the Italian was 19th, setting a 2’04.840.
- Guido Pini pushed to get into the 2’03s in Q1. Despite this, the Italian couldn’t make it into Q2 today, qualifying in 19th place with a 2’03.503. Adrián Fernández, on the other hand, finished Saturday as the top Honda rider. A solid last flying lap in Q2 secured him a spot on the second row of the grid, qualifying 6th with a time of 2’02.996.
- Let’s race!
“Today has been a day of contrasts, with its ups and downs. During FP2, the track conditions were very different as it was very hot. I tried to work on my own, testing a few things, and it went better than I expected. The feeling improved a lot during qualifying, when the track temperature had dropped a little, as we tend to perform better in cooler conditions here. We weren’t able to put together the lap we would have liked, but we have a good starting position for tomorrow. We’ll have to see how things go in the race, but we will try our best to bring home a good result.”
“It was a difficult day. This morning we weren’t able to make as much progress as we would have liked. However, we knew we could make a good step forward later in qualifying. I think our first run of Q1 was really, really good. A 2’03.5 is a good lap time, but today it wasn’t enough to make it through to Q2. We need to be smart tomorrow, get a good start and try to make up as many positions as possible. It won’t be easy, but we’ll give it everything we’ve got.”
