Ramirez and Dalla Porta: fifth and sixth at the Grand Prix of Austria

Marcos Ramirez and Lorenzo Dalla Porta have finished the fifth and the sixth on Sunday race at the Circuit of Spielberg, in Austria. The eleventh round of the 2019 season says goodbye to the Moto3 category having Lorenzo Dalla Porta as the leader of the standings and Spaniard Marcos Ramirez occupying the fifth position.

The Austrian Sunday started with mixed conditions as early in the morning rain appeared and although it wasn’t something to worry about because didn’t last for long, the surface of the track had wet and dry patches. As it is obvious, this circumstance changed the plans for everybody. The Leopard Racing is always ready to give its best and riders Ramirez and Dalla Porta, who started from the 7th and the 8th position respectively, battled and tried it hard in order to achieve the best possible result. They had to manage a tricky surface and rivals on track throughout 23 laps and after swapping some positions and fighting with the rest, they ended up crossing the line the 5th and the 6th.

After this result, Leopard Racing keeps its leader position on team’s standings, Lorenzo Dalla Porta takes the 1st position again and turns into the leader, and Marcos Ramirez grabs 5th position. Now it is time to switch off the engines for some days, see you all at the Grand Prix of Great Britain in two weeks’ time.

I wanted to fight stronger and it wasn’t possible. My teammate overtook me at the beginning and we couldn’t get the first group of riders. I tried to push and I thought I was fast, but I lost a lot on acceleration. However, a fifth position is positive, honestly I wanted to get the podium but I have to take the most of this result. We are ready to try it again in Silverstone”.

It’s been quite a hard weekend, we had a very good pace on dry conditions but things were different on the race and I didn’t want to take many risks because there were two tricky turns and it was difficult to perfectly manage the situation as I didn’t want to make a mistake and therefore I had to be careful. The important thing is that we leave the track being the leaders of the standings and although we didn’t take a lot of points, we’ve grabbed some and I believe they are important, as everything counts. The team and myself wanted more, but it’s a good result. We’ll keep working and pushing. I think the situation will be easier at the Silverstone track, I like that circuit”.
