Ángel Piqueras takes back-to-back podiums at Misano

Le0pard rider and rookie Ángel Piqueras puts the finishing touch to a double round in Misano by claiming 2nd position today while teammate Adrián Fernández crosses the finish line in 8th place:

  • Sunny skies greeted us for race day of the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, with Le0pard Racing starting from the first and third rows of the grid, with Ángel Piqueras in the 3rd spot and Adrián Fernández in the 7th.
  • The two Spaniards lost one position on the start of the race, with Ángel Piqueras placed in 4th and Adrián Fernández in 8th. Both started to make their way up soon, although the overtaking didn’t stop from the very beginning within a very busy and large group.
  • When it was 14 laps to go, Ángel Piqueras managed to take the lead, while Adrián Fernández sat in 3rd. However, Ángel Piqueras was overtaken again, sitting in 3rd while a contact from another rider made Adrián Fernández drop to 8th.
  • As the laps went on, the positions kept changing. While Adrián Fernández was struggling to keep up with the pace imposed at the front, Ángel Piqueras pushed to recover from 6th to 3rd.
  • Coming into the final stages of the race, Adrián Fernández sat in 9th, still struggling, but being able to make a final overtake to cross the finish line in 8th.
  • In a frantic last lap and after some overtaking, Ángel Piqueras consolidated in 2nd place, making it back-to-back podiums at Misano after his victory here two weeks ago.
  • Indonesia, we are on our way!
“It wasn’t a victory, but I’m really happy, because to achieve a podium in the World Championship is always difficult, and today we did it again. It’s an important 2nd position for me and also for the team, as we continue to make steps forward. It was even more difficult than the other race, because it was faster. These two weekends at Misano have given me a lot of motivation to face the unknown territory that the overseas are for me. I’m looking forward to keeping it up!”

“The race was going very well, it was a pity that a contact from another rider made us drop positions. Afterwards, I had a hard time catching the pace that they had put in the front. In any case, we continue gaining experience and learning for the next races. We’re almost there, and we’ll keep working to make it happen”
