Grand Prix of Italy: Saturday

Le0pard Racing will start tomorrow’s race at Mugello from the third and seventh rows of the grid, with Adrián Fernández in 9th and Guido Pini in 19th:

  • Free Practice 2 at Mugello got underway this morning under sunny skies. Guido Pini found some improvements, setting a time of 1’55.474 to finish in 8th position, ahead of Adrián Fernández, who was 11th with a 1’55.650.
  • Missing out on Q2, Guido Pini will start from 19th on the grid tomorrow. The Italian finished 5th in Q1 with the 1’56.415 he set on his first run of qualifying. Adrián Fernández worked alone in Q2, putting in a 1’55.397 on his first run to qualify in 9th position.
  • We can’t wait to race!
“Qualifying was difficult today. I tried to do the lap on my own on the first run, and it went well. I thought I could do it again on the second one, but I wasn’t able to. I gave everything, trying to improve on corner exit and find even the smallest time gain. I am not happy with our starting position, but I am happy with the work we’ve done so far this weekend in preparation for the race, always working alone and focusing on ourselves”

“We found some improvements this morning with the cooler track conditions and were able to put together some good laps. On the other hand, I’m still struggling in hotter conditions, like the ones we had in qualifying. We finished 5th in Q1 and missed out on Q2. Mugello is not a track where grid position is decisive, but we’ll definitely have to push to have a good race at home tomorrow”
